Verse 1:
High above the desert sands, the hunting hawk rises,
Down below, King Ammon lets his arrow fly,
A hunt with no purpose, the pastime of the vanquished,
For with Nasir dead, the sun god’s fate is at an end.
His arrow misses, a rider draws near, bearing a message,
A vampire attack, the floodgates torn down, an invasion is about to begin.
He gives the order to his men, to the capital they must ride now.
He’ll do his duty, the golden city he must defend.
Chorus:
King and champion of the sun god,
Living in his father’s shadow,
Until the end, he’ll do his duty,
The golden city he must defend.
Verse 2:
To the capital he returns, and readies his men to defend it,
The greybeards’ disapproving glances follow him wherever he goes.
“You’re not your father,” they all seem to say, “you’ve led us to disaster,
And when you die, the line of desert kings will end.”
He must sire an heir before it’s too late, but fate is against him,
The Julians arrive, no bribes or threats would turn them away,
They seek Aljin’s demise, but King Ammon will not surrender,
He’ll do his duty, the golden city he must defend.
Chorus:
King and champion of the sun god,
Living in his father’s shadow,
Until the end, he’ll do his duty,
The golden city he must defend.
Chorus:
King and champion of the sun god,
Living in his father’s shadow,
Until the end, he’ll do his duty,
The golden city he must defend.
Verse 3:
Cannons pound the city walls, while vampires fly above,
An assassin fails, the third champion visits Ammon in the night,
A taste of Aljin’s mysteries, too little, too late,
The walls are breached, yet King Ammon will not bend.
With sword in hand, he defends his city, his enemies call the retreat.
His people hail him a hero, though victory is far from sight.
One last visit to the harem, a servant’s betrayal,
A vampire strikes, and Ammon’s death brings Aljin’s end.
Chorus:
King and champion of the sun god,
Living in his father’s shadow,
Until the end, he did his duty,
The golden city he fought to defend.
Final Chorus:
King and champion of the sun god,
Living in his father’s shadow,
Until the end, he did his duty,
Yet the sun god he could not defend.
